A pristine coastal city where azure seas, 146 offshore islands, and world-class theme parks meet the pulse of the Pearl River Delta. Gateway to Macau. China's most liveable city.
Zhuhai's recorded history stretches back over 5,000 years, with evidence of Neolithic settlements on its coastal islands. During the Ming and Qing dynasties it was a prosperous fishing and trading hub, and its proximity to Portuguese-administered Macau shaped a unique cross-cultural character visible in its heritage villages and archways today.
In 1980, Zhuhai was designated one of China's first four Special Economic Zones under Deng Xiaoping's reform agenda, triggering dramatic industrial and urban growth. Today it anchors the western flank of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area — a 70-million-person mega-city cluster.
