Welcome to Nanchang
The revolutionary capital of China — 2,200 years of history, world-class wetlands and one of the country's great food cities.
A Brief History
Founded as Han Commandery Yuzhang in 202 BCE, Nanchang grew as a commercial hub on the Gan River. On 1 August 1927, Communist forces launched the Nanchang Uprising — the first armed action of the Communist Party — making the city the symbolic birthplace of the People's Liberation Army.
